Pinch Punch…
I woke up from a series of horrible nightmares this morning. I'm not sure what brought them on but they really fucked with my head and I was a zombie until about midday. I snapped out of it when I realised that I'd got the laundry booked at my old building and that I'd promised to help out the Fam with some computer issues. The apartment is coming along nicely, the floor is down in all rooms now and the cupboards are up too. It's beginning to take shape.
I took the first four of these photo's the other day, it was only a fleeting visit to the apartment before I realised I wasn't feeling too well - I ended up spending the rest of the day in bed with a fever...

The last three pictures are from today. When I got to my apartment I found that they had replaced the hallway cupboard, the bathroom cupboards are in and so is the bedroom wardrobe.
Yesterday was a celebratory day here in Sweden. The last of April is the day that bonfires are burnt to, some say, get rid of the Easter Witches, making sure that they all bugger off to Blåkulla and not seduce the little 'uns with their sweeties... it's an old tale and rather disturbing too, but it does bring about a sense of Spring as all the BBQ's are dusted off and the smell of flaming flesh engulfs the air, along with the occasional firework - nothing like Diwali mind you, but still festive. However, the day (also known as Walpurgis Night) brings with it the dread of Swedes embarking on their traditional drunken mayhem, and the news was unfortunately full of it. Including a snippet about a hundred or so that were kicked out of Denmark for rowdy behaviour and arrested on their arrival back in Sweden... Pinch-Punch... although a lot of Swedes will have you believe that this is a normal Friday night out for them, and even more normal for Helsingør in Denmark where it all kicked off...
I myself refrained from the evenings shenanigans (for obvious reasons) and watched a movie instead. Although I did treat myself to a low alcohol beer... yum!
By The Lake
Whilst taking my daily walk today, I couldn't help but notice that the water on the lake was so still that it looked eerily wrong...
The mirror-like surface was like nothing I'd seen whilst walking this route these past few years. Made a nice picture though... quality is iPhone so not the best...
2010 … another good year … [cont.]
I left it a day before heading back out to try and get the car shifted. I wish I hadn't. Another blizzard over night and now the car is pretty much the same as it was the other day.
I gave a bigger bash at getting it out and discovered to my dismay that I have a parking ticket! In my own car park! Where I pay rent!
I manage to get the car moved about 2 feet before the summer tyres decide to stop playing. It's at this point that my fatigue, back and motivation dissipates and I head inside for a cuppa and to write a stinking email to the car park warden....
2010 … another good year …
My relief at getting back home after a dismal Christmas was extremely short lived. Firstly, I arrived back to a car under about 5 feet of snow - which was made worse by the snow plough driver who decided the back of my car was the best place to pile the snow he'd been moving. I don't own a snow shovel, so I had to make do with my hands and various implements that became handy - like milk cartons.
My first attempt at getting the car out was a bit pathetic really. I managed to clear the sides, get in the car and get it started and sat there for a few minutes trying to regain the feeling in my fingers. After a while I began to get a bit woozy and discovered that I was sitting in a car quickly filling with exhaust fumes. Upon investigation I found that as I had cleared the sides of the car and not the back, I had created a little hollow in which the car was sitting, no air was being let out from under the car, including the exhaust emissions which had little else choice but to rise up into the car itself.
After sorting that out I was pretty knackered and my back had pretty much given up on me, so I decided to take a short break ...
